We have known Pitcho, Fredy Massamba and Lexxus Legal for a while now. Living in different parts of the world, the three are now teaming up on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of DR Congo (while Fredy’s native, Congo Brazzaville, also celebrates its 50th independence day) under the joint flag of ‘Congo groove’.
Fredy Massamba has been around the world with Les Tambours de Brazza, worked with the likes Zap Mama and Didier Awadi and just released his album ‘Ethnophony’ in 2009. Lexxus Legal from KMS is one of the pioneers of hip hop in Kinshasa, and Pitcho is a veteran of the Belgian hip hop scene, the latter just released a new album ‘Crise de negre’.

Their first presentation together will take place on Friday May 28 in Zuiderpershuis in Antwerp (Belgium) and their tour will take them to Brussels, Paris and the Gabao Hip Hop festival in Libreville (Gabon). Soon we’ll post more news about Congo Groove. In the meantime check out their videos and if you’re near Antwerp on the 28th, don’t miss their first performance together!
